Peace Is a Skill
If inner peace sounds foreign, that’s okay.
No one is born with it. It’s something you build over and over. Through small choices. Daily awareness. Gentle course corrections. Start your new habit of practice with the activity below.
Small Stillness Practice: The 60-Second Check-In
If you're in a difficult moment, try this:
- Pause
Stop what you're doing, just for a minute. Sit or stand still. - Breathe
Take a slow inhale through your nose. Exhale gently through your mouth. Repeat 3–5 times. - Feel
Ask: What’s happening inside me right now? Don’t fix it — just notice. Maybe it's tension, anxiety, numbness, or fatigue. - Affirm
Say quietly to yourself: This is where I am. And that’s okay.
That’s it. Just one minute of presence. Practiced consistently, this tiny pause builds your capacity to stay calm under pressure. Once you have the habit going build on it by following up with journal entry to help enforce the process.
You won’t always get it right. But every time you notice your thoughts running wild, every time you remember to breathe instead of reacting, you are practicing peace.
And that practice adds up. Not in a perfect, linear way but like a muscle, quietly strengthening over time.
Did you stop and try it out? Is this an activity you can use in your day?
